You may be anxious about the idea of getting started with this process, but I promise it's so much easier than it seems! The end results could be satisfactory!
Start with LinkedIn
The beginning of my Disney College Program journey started with creating my LinkedIn account. This became very beneficial as I went into college, so I recommend everyone set one up as soon as possible in their career. This account allowed me to put my professional experiences onto a single site that anyone could access, without having to share my resume with anyone who asked. I was able to connect with past professors and those artists that I mentioned in my last post. It's a great platform to start your career.
That being said, Disney College Program’s application website actually allows you to log in via your LinkedIn account, so having all of that already set up and prepared, makes your application process that much easier.

Creating your Application
After applying in a rush the first time, I didn't follow any tips or tricks for the application, because I was focused on the interview portions. Now, with a new application process, it is especially important to read up on how to word and format your application. The biggest thing that I took note of during my second, and successful application, was watching my wording. You obviously don't want to ramble about your experiences, but using concise and specific vocabulary is going to help you a lot. When describing my work experiences, I googled the exact DCP roles I was interested in, and used those same words in their description, to accentuate my traits.

Do Research for the Roles
Knowing how you want to make magic is an important part of your confidence levels throughout your process. Doing research on what roles you could be put into, and learning about all the possibilities could really help guide your application, and set you up for success. For example, I knew I was really interested in character attending, so I specifically focused on my entertainment experience, as well as my roles with kids. Secondly, I also mentioned my customer service experience, which was equally as important, especially when applying for a company like Walt Disney World. They have changed the application process around since I've been through the program, due to Covid and just some updated procedures, so now the application itself is just as important as the final steps of the process.
You Got This!
My biggest advice for starting the application is to take everything with a grain of salt. You want to show yourself, and out yourself in these roles, showing your confidence and willingness to participate. Work out those little mistakes you think the recruiters might miss and stay professional, because everything is important. Take a deep breath; we're just getting started!
