Keep Up with the Change!

The Disney College Program application and interview process has changed throughout COVID, and since I completed my process in 2019. So with these changes, I took to a couple friends to tell me their experiences with the application process.

Current CP, Haley
Firstly, I spoke with Haley, a current Disney College Program participant. Haley first applied to the DCP in January of 2020, but then got her program suspended due to the COVID outbreak.
“I was asked to come back and reapply in May of this year.”
Haley’s first time applying was the same as my process, but when she was called back to reapply, she followed the new process.
“I didn't have to go through the Web Based and Phone interviews again, I just had to resend my initial application,” Haley explained. “The fact that it (the phone interview) has been taken away kind of hurts and feels off.”
Haley explains that she is uncertain that the old interview process will return, but is hopeful for the success and experience of future applicants. She is now working hard as a Food and Beverage Cast Member at Pop Century Resort in Walt Disney World, and just extended her program, continuing her adventure until June of 2022.

Future CP, Ashley
I also spoke with an old coworker of mine, Ashley, who just accepted her position in the Disney College Program today! I wanted to hear more about her experience applying for the first time, and what changes she went through compared to both Haley and I.
“I just filled out the application,” she explained. “I did not have the option to rank any roles, at all.”
Thinking back, my process for my Disney College Program took about a month total. I applied late January, received my Web Based Interview on Valentine’s Day, and immediately moved on to the phone interview, scheduled for a week later. Only 5 days after my interview I was accepted.
“I immediately received my WBI. Once that was completed, I just had to wait.”
It was only 3 days later that Ashley got her acceptance email.

Get Prepared!
As for future applicants, I agree with Haley that the phone interview should come back. In the past, this was a crucial part of the entire process. Without role selection, or even direct conversation with a recruiter, I feel like the selection gets filled quickly. I was fully prepared for my phone interview, and I feel like I learned so much about my interview personality through the 18 minute conversation with my recruiter.
